PYMA CLASSROOM

Sawabona Africa and PYMA celebrate the opening of the classroom

All the afterschool classes for 300 learners were taking place in 1 classroom, now there are 2 spaces to learn thanks to generous donations.  We share with you this incredible journey from preparing the ground, the arrival of the classroom, the classroom opening ceremony and some moments in the classroom.

Preparation of the ground

The site for the new classroom was selected. Behind the vegetable patch. This meant the fence needed to be moved and new fencing installed.  As the land was an old rubbish dump and rather rocky. The team hired equipment to flatten the land.

PYMA is now ready for the delivery of the container

Hear from a parent of one of the PYMA students

PYMA and Sawabona Africa believe that good education plays a crucial role in building a bright future for our children and youth. Therefore, here we are committed to providing an atmosphere to our students where they all can imbibe good values and learn new things every day and improve their academic performance through utilisation of the new classroom (the classroom for the future). I am extremely glad at the fact that our school committee members as well as teachers are leaving no stone unturned in working towards this direction. On this important occasion, we get a chance to publically celebrate this success achieved through the sheer hard work and perseverance of Sawabona Africa through the classroom project.

The new classroom is full of activity

The PYMA Afterschool academy opened in February.  All students were welcomed in the Sawabona Classroom.  We asked students and staff for their impressions:

  • ‘This new classroom will improve the quality of our programme’
  • Now senior school and junior school classes can be separated
  • ‘I love our new classroom’
  • ‘No more interruption to our classes when we have events’

The new classroom is put to use
